New Projects

For any who happen to follow this blog , Sorry I have been super busy welding.

For those who do not , welcome.

This is a table built for Beyond Clothing. The primary process was GMAW - (MIG) welding

The hooks were formed using a combination of forge and a Oxy Acetylene torch in junction with an on the spot  jig than my friend and co worker Jon made (I only got to make 5 hooks and it was awesome).

Sadly the final product was packed ( yes we packed it ) and I did not take photos, boooooo.

Next up is Odin Brewery. All the metal work on the table and bench bases is mine , again all GMAW welding

No I did not built the bar stools!

 Simple foot rails.

Finally some GTAW (TIG) welding - yesh.
This is a duel lower shock mount repair for a friends 4X4 F250.
100% penetration was needed so back gouging was required.

The joint was prepared with a double V grove  pictured below.
The face was welded under the gussets  than, the gussets were tacked into place.
after welding the gussets in place I put the root pass (the root pas is the first pass of 2) in the top of the plate after letting the plate cool to 140 Degrees Fahrenheit the cover pass was welded in. .

after the top was welded out i turned the plate over to reveal the back side.
The joint was than ground to show clean metal with no imperfections before welding was to be done.

Than the first pass on the back side was welded in.
After allowing the plate to cool to roughly 140 degrees F. the cover pass was welded out.

This is the finished mount painted and installed.

The next photo set is more GMAW.
These are some random projects I came across on my camera and thought I would throw into the post for fun.

AK 47 Fold-able Stock Modification !

This is a pretty straight forward job , mild Steel , some fusion welds some Plug welds .
I am not a gun guy, that being said if you know what you want I can weld it.
This was a 3 hour job as I had to watch the heat input as to not remove the temper in the top rails !

These are the tools that I used to do the job. A "third hand" to avoid arc strikes , brass backing with holes drilled oversized to the hole to be welded.  These served as argon traps for 100% penetration and, limited the distance of the finished weld penetration.
The finished project only required that the surface of the weldements be sanded to a coat-able finish!

Welded And Installed Bung .

I used 309 filler to weld the stainless bung to the mild steel pipe.

The temp sensor installed and works well !

Exhaust Temp Sensor Bung Project Start

So after exhausting the local sources looking for a stainless steel M10 X 1.00 tapered stainless bung to weld onto my exhaust pipe I decided it would be easier to build my own.

These are two different tries they will both work and, I may yet make another as I did not have access to my good tooling for this project.

These two photos illustrate the difference between the two .
One of these will be welded to the pipe to monitor the exhaust temperature.
I will of course post those photos when I find time to weld it on.

HAPPY WELDING !
