Air cooled torch bodies.
I generally use my WP-17 body for just about everything however the other week I ran into a job that required me to weld in side a 1500$ stainless steel valve pipe (saving the threads), I got the job done using a button back cap and a stubby kit but, the torch was still about 3/4 of an inch to long to truly get the job done perfect.
Recently I acquired a WP-9 torch body, this torch uses the same collets and collet bodies as similar water cooled torch bodies and, is overall roughly an inch shorter than the WP-17 body. Next time I need to get into a tight space I will be better equipped for the job!
Happy Welding !
For those reading this that are enrolled in the GTAW program at S.S.C.C. the Dynasty 200 water cooled kits transfer over to the WP-9 air/gas cooled torch body so, save those parts they might come in handy one day !
At Olympic College The air/gas cooled WP-17 torch body is used in the GTAW shop class as well as pipe 2. The WP-17 torch body is what came with the contractors kit when I bought my welder's accessories !
