Porta Band Saw project ...

First off I would like to thank Welding Tips and Tricks for this idea !

I also took some time to look at Swag Off road and they have some really neat stuff !!!

I was considering selling this tool as it always seems to collect dust in a corner but after watching a video I had to build the mount and put it to some use ! This is an old Milwaukee Porta Band Saw it has been sitting in a box since I got the tool , yesterday on a repair was the first time I had ever used it in the months I have owned it. After watching a video and seeing a home made vertical mount built the light in my head went on .

When I built my welding table I added some receivers with the idea that it would be easy to expand it when I  had the space. These attachments turn out to be perfect for all sorts of things and today it is a mount for the porta band project.

My welds on this project are pretty darn good for mild steel so, I can not resist putting a few in this post . Non of these were cleaned up before pictures were taken !

This is a photo of how it attaches to the table .

And the finished mount , the guard will need to be made right but for what I had laying around in the shop I think it is a great finished product, nothing I would or could sell but for my uses it is perfect.

HAPPY WELDING !!!

Finished with the last trophy !!!

If a wood base ends up being added this is where the butterfly should go !

A clean work table , kinda sad to see it !!!

HAPPY WELDING !!!

Mash Barrel Project .

Today I had a Bush keg ( 304L Stainless steel ) come into the shop for some modifications.
It is being used for a mash barrel in the beer brewing process.

The holes were pre cut before this project arrived in my shop .

Many of the welds were done by another fabricator.

The hung brackets had to be cut off than welded back together and than reattached after the new piece was attached , it had to face the opposite direction from the original position plus it was in the way of the weld !
The above photo highlights a bad weld due to poor fit up, the hole was cut off center and the gap was almost 1/8" for about a 1/2" run. this created a situation where to much heat had to be put into the weld.

HAPPY WELDING !!!
