Today I had a Bush keg ( 304L Stainless steel ) come into the shop for some modifications.
It is being used for a mash barrel in the beer brewing process.
The holes were pre cut before this project arrived in my shop .
Many of the welds were done by another fabricator.
The hung brackets had to be cut off than welded back together and than reattached after the new piece was attached , it had to face the opposite direction from the original position plus it was in the way of the weld !
The above photo highlights a bad weld due to poor fit up, the hole was cut off center and the gap was almost 1/8" for about a 1/2" run. this created a situation where to much heat had to be put into the weld.
HAPPY WELDING !!!
